To know and understand how environmental health issues link in attaining Sustainable
Development Goals (SDG’s) in the Philippines and in celebration of World Environmental
Health Day, the Environmental Management Bureau IX through its Environmental Education
and Information Unit conducted a Webinar entitled: Understanding how environmental health
links to attaining Sustainable Development Goals in the Philippines (SDG’s) on September 26,
2022, via ZOOM Meeting platform.

The participants were the DENR CENRO/PENRO Information Officers and EMB IX EEIU
Focal Persons with the aim to bolster information and knowledge on the importance of
intensifying Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Campaigns to increase
awareness of the current environmental health issues we are facing.

Engr. Norman A. Erazo, Chief, CEMU Zamboanga City tackled the Salient Features of RA
8749 or the Clean Air Act of 1999 detailing how this Act protects our right to breathe Clean
Air. Mr. Arvel John Lozada of NEDA IX also shared his expertise on the 17 Sustainable
Development Goals (SDG’s) with a focus on Environmental Health; linking the government’s
effort in attaining the goal.

Gracing the webinar with his expertise in Environmental Health is Dr. Geminn Louis C.
Apostol, a Public Health Specialist who talked about Environmental Health Risk Assessment,
the identification, Dose-response assessment, exposure assessment, and Risk Characterization
