The PEMU Zamboanga del Norte, through the CEMU Piñan/Manukan, on September 06,
2022, conducted an examination/inquiry to vehicles entering the Province of ZDN which
believes to be reasonably used for the transport of chemical substances and hazardous waste
without the necessary permit from the Bureau at the Anti-Environmental Crime Task Force
checkpoint in Barangay Tolon, Rizal, Zamboanga del Norte.
The team was led by CEMU P/M Chief Engr. Ben-Azer Abing along with technical personnel
Mr. Jay Edmar Escabarte and Solid Waste Environmental Monitoring Officer (EnMO) Mr.
Nerwil Mogawa.The activity was participated as well by the DENR-CENRO Piñan.
It is the Bureau’s thrust to intensify the provisions of RA 6969 (“Toxic Substances and
Hazardous and Nuclear Wastes Control Act of 1990) by restricting or prohibiting the entry of
hazardous wastes, chemical substances, and mixtures and their disposal for whatever purpose
that may present unreasonable risk and/or injury to health or the environment.
