The Environmental Management Bureau IX culminated the hustling month of November in celebration
of Climate Change Consciousness Week, National Clean Air Month and National Environmental
Awareness Month through the activity dubbed as ENVIRONMENTAL YOUTH SUMMIT 2022.

The 1-day event is in partnership with the Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University (ZPPSU)
and fully supported by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) 9 and the Mines
and Geoscience Bureau 9, with the theme “Sama-samang Pagtugon sa Nagbabagong Klima” on
November 29, 2022 at ZPPSU Gymnasium, Zamboanga City.

RD Alex Jimenez, in his message, encouraged the students to listen and learn more on what is happening
to the environment and share how they can help in addressing issues particularly on climate change.
The activity aims to intensify environmental education and increase awareness of the youth on the
different environmental laws and policies highlighting what they can do on their level especially on the
fight against Climate Change.

A total of 269 college students of the Bachelor of Hospitality Management and Bachelor of Science in
Entrepreneurship participated in the success of this activity. Highlights on such includes composing
environmental yells and showcasing their ability in making beauty pageant outfits out of recycled
materials.

Moreover, they were also requested to draw on their perspective on how land, air, water conditions
were before and the present situation with their actions as youth in addressing current environmental
problems.

Collaterals such as jackets, umbrellas, tumblers, cutleries, cash prizes and gift certificates were given
to the best performing group and individuals who performed well during their presentations and
activities.
